I sometimes think I came out of my mother’s womb rolling pie dough and dreaming of fresh-baked cookies…little did I know I would be directing this passion toward gluten-free and allergy-friendly dishes.

Diagnosed at 38 with numerous food intolerances, one full year of non-acceptance later (pouting and feet stomping included), I started building recipes I could indulge in. The unexpected payoff: Other people enjoy them too!

My inspiration comes from experiences while living abroad in Italy, Turkey and Denmark, learning from so many wonderful cooks and bakers around the world. It comes from assisting nationally-acclaimed pastry chef, Gale Gand. And of course my family and wonderful husband, Marco, and son, Luca.

I now teach gluten-free and allergy-friendly cooking and baking classes and sell my products at Elawa Farm in Lake Forest, IL, with the longer term goal of baking in a dedicated facility free of gluten, dairy, egg, soy, nuts, tree nuts and corn so that those with even severe food allergies can enjoy my products without worry!

        I’m sure you could probably make homemade biscuits with a different kind of flour – buckwheat flour might be a good option.

    I’m happy to have found this website – I live in Lake Bluff and have been gluten free & dairy free for over 2 years. It’s tricky, especially when cooking for the family. Hopefully I can meet you in person this Summer at Elawa farms. I want to see what you’ve come up with for people like me!
